Περιέχει μια ποικιλία μακροθρεπτικών και μικροθρεπτικών συστατικών, μαζί με ένζυμα και άλλες ουσίες που βοηθούν στην ενδυνάμωση του οργανισμού. Η γύρη περιέχει πρωτεΐνες, λιπίδια, σάκχαρα, βιταμίνες, καροτενοειδή, πολυφαινόλες και άλλες ουσίες με αντιοξειδωτική και αντιγηραντική δράση. Η πρόπολη, που είναι ασπίδα για τις μέλισσες στις κυψέλες και τρόπος απολύμανσης από μικροοργανισμούς, έχει μικροβιοκτόνο, αντιοξειδωτική, αντιφλεγμονώδη, αντιισταμινική και ανοσοποιητική δράση.
