Senna is a plant that was originally cultivated by the Arabs in 800 BC and grows mainly in Arab countries, India and America. Since ancient times, senna has traditionally been known for its help in treating constipation, thanks to its laxative properties.
Senna or Cassia angustifolia belongs to the herbs that contain glycosides that promote the motility of the large intestine; its active substance, chrysophenic acid, has laxative properties.
The fruit and leaves of senna contain sennosides Α & Β, substances which are hydrolysed by the bacteria in the human gut and are broken down to give the active substance anthraquinone. Sennosides A and B and their breakdown products act on the large intestine, accelerating the transfer of intestinal contents to the colon.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Take one capsule with a glass of water/ juice to achieve swallowing. People with swallowing problems may open the capsule and mix the contents with water or juice.
People with health problems, medication and pregnant women should consult their doctor about the use of dietary supplements. Dietary supplements are not a substitute for regular diet.
